# Limits and Stacking

## Limits

Limits are the parts of the y-axis that Marple visualises. There are two limit types: the **min limit** and the **max limit.**

Marple will visualise the data points within the min and max limit. The min and max limit can be set for every signal separately.

## Stacking

Each signal group also has a **position** on a plot, which you can change.

If you select one signal or a signal group, you can see drag handles on the axis. These will allow you change the position of your signal. Playing with positions allows you to make visually clean plots.

By default, in time series plots, all signals and signal groups that are added to a plot will be added with their limits aligned to the top and bottom of the plot. This means that the graphs are stacked over one and another.

If you want to automatically stack the graphs on one another, you can click on the **Stack All Signals** button in the top bar.

After clicking the **Stack All Signals** button, the signals will be stacked over one and another in the plot.

## Linking limits

**Link** multiple signals if you want their limits and positions to always be the same. This will make of these signals a signal group (see [Signal Settings](/docs/marple-insight/user-manuals/visualisation/plot-types/time-series/signal-settings.md))

Linked signals will have the same y-axis. Select multiple signals \[**ctrl/cmd + left mouse click]** and click the link button.

# Agent Instructions: Querying This Documentation

If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.marpledata.com/docs/marple-insight/user-manuals/visualisation/plot-types/time-series/limits-and-stacking.md?ask=<question>
```

The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
